Ethical listening is the intentional practice of using information gained from people for their benefit, not that of yourself. For example, private information should never be shared publicly without consent.
a positive word for criticism would be critiquing. Critiquing is a form of pointing out mistakes such as when a teacher critiques your work.

Recognizing that unless you too can produce art, you have no place critiquing the work of others that can.
Demonstrating active listening by maintaining eye contact and nodding. Avoiding interruptions while the speaker is talking. Being open-minded and respectful towards the speaker's viewpoints. Providing constructive feedback if needed in a supportive manner.

Ethos (Credibility), or ethical appeal, means convincing by the character of the author. We tend to believe people whom we respect. One of the central problems of argumentation is to project an impression to the reader that you are someone worth listening to, in other words making yourself as author into an authority on the subject of the paper, as well as someone who is likable and worthy of respect.
