Also, if it is an old prescription OR someone else's script, DO NOT use it. Even with something as simple as an antibiotic, it can be harmful is misused. Hope this helps!

Generally, no. Bacitracin ointment should not be applied near the eye unless it is Bacitracin ophthalmic ointment. Even that medicine, however, is only useful against bacterial infections, and only some of those. Most cases of "pink eye" are caused by viruses, and are therefore not treatable with Bacitracin.

I was prescrived Bausch & Lomb Polymyxin B Sulfate and Trimethoprim Ophthalmic Solution USP for dry eyes. I just started with the drops today and I sure hope it helps.
