Fentanyl is a strong narcotic pain-killer used for chronic moderate to severe pain as well as acute post operative pain depending on the needs of the patient. Fentanyl is an opioid and therefore can be highly addictive. It is most commonly prescribed in the form of a patch that goes on the skin, releasing the dosage over time, but can also be given in the form of an injection by trained medical personnel.

Will using one fentinal patch make you addicted?

Yes. Fentinal like morphine are both highly addictive drugs. Also because the patch is worn for three days verses one dose the chance of addiction grows substantially. I am not a physician, but am a patient that has been with chronic pain that requires both opiates, Valium, and the fentinal patch. Also my sister is a Nurse Practitioner and has confirmed what I am stating.
