Fetishistic Transvestites are people who are aroused by wearing the clothes of the opposite sex. They will often have a fetish for a particular garmet such as shoes, stockings or underwear. Fetishes are compelling fascinations with certain clothing, body parts or sexual activities. A common fetish is for women's feet, often in high heels. Fetishism can range from simply enjoying - for example - seeing women in high heels, to compulsive behaviors that interfere with normal life.
"Transvestites" should not be mistaken for "Transsexuals" as the latter's behaviour is not primarily fetishistic. "Transexuals" feel that they are "trapped" in the body of the wrong gender and will often go on to have operations to change their sex and dress and behave as though they were a member of the opposite gender at all times. "Transvestites" on the other hand are usually heterosexual and content with their birth gender but find the clothing of the opposite sex arousing.

Androgyny means having qualities that are in the middle of the spectrum of masculine and feminine. Transvestism means men wearing clothing usually associated with women. (Because there is much less social stigma associated with women wearing men's clothing, transvestism usually refers to men.)
Someone who dresses in opposite sex clothing for sexual purposes When a specific type of object is built upon as a foundation of sex (by self or with others) then a person is fetishistic. The crossdresser part comes in when the object is only something the opposite sex would wear/use: high heeled shoes, pantyhose, bras, panties, garters, girdles, sanitary items (napkins etc.), makeup and more. The general difference in CDs between fetishistic and non is that for the non it's not about sex it's about self-perception; for the fetishistic it's about being sexually turned on.
