A follicle is a fluid filled sac in the ovary that usually contains an egg.The egg develops in the ovary that contains an egg. The egg develops in the sac,and then when the LH harmone surges, it caused the sac to rupture and egg is released.when a doctor does an ultrasound,she can see only the follicles as the eggs are very tiny..
