Excerpt from Microsoft Computer Dictionary (5th Edn):
CMOS n. 1.Acronym for complementary metal-oxide
semiconductor. A semiconductor technology in which
pairs of metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors
(MOSFETs), one N-type and one P-type, are integrated on
a single silicon chip. Generally used for RAM and switching
applications, these devices have very high speed and
extremely low power consumption. They are, however,
easily damaged by static electricity. 2. The battery-
backed memory used to store parameter values
needed to boot PCs, such as the type of disks and the
amount of memory, as well as the clock/calendar time.

A CMOS Mux is a piece of technology that is used to create integrated circuits that are used in electronics. The full name of 'CMOS' is Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor.
Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor. The CMOS is where the basic modifiable settings of the computer (BIOS, Basic Input-Output System) (Date, time, memory) are stored. These settings are maintained when the power is turned off by a minute current, and that current is supplied by the CMOS battery
The Canon 300D is an APS CMOS sensor measuring 22.7 x 15.1 (slightly larger than the 350D's 22.2 x 14.8 mm). In contrast, the 1Ds full frame CMOS sensor was 35.8 x 23.8 mm (2002).
A CMOS socket is to plug a CMOS transistor into. Alternatively, a CMOS socket is to plug a CMOS integrated circuit into. CMOS, by the way, stands for, "Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor".
Cmos ram.
Modern PCs store the CMOS password in the CMOS memory itself.

CMOS is an on-board, battery powered semiconductor chip inside computers that stores information and is also used as image sensors (CMOS sensor)
