The main muscles are the Geniohyoid and the Mylohyoid which attach between the inside of the mandible and, the only bone in the human body not connected to another, the Hyoid bone. This bone is present the neck as an attachment for muscles. It is a U shaped bone that is suspended by various muscles (the two above plus the Digastric and the Stylohyoid) above the thyroid cartilage. This is the bone that is often uset to determine, post mortem, if a person was strangled as it is easily broken.
