The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest dog breed in the world. It can measure around 32 inches tall as opposed to the great dane's 27 inches.
The Irish Wolfhound is the tallest breed of dog, but not the heaviest.

To teach a toddler to be gentle with a dog, parents can demonstrate gentle behavior themselves, supervise interactions, use positive reinforcement, and teach the toddler how to pet and play with the dog gently. Consistent reminders and praise for gentle behavior can help reinforce the lesson.
The Irish included in a dogs breed refers to the origin where that breed of dog was first bred. (i.e. Irish Wolfhound, Irish Setter, originated in Ireland).
KevinKevin is a name of Irish origin. It is believed that Saint Kevin was the person who popularized the name. Kevin is not a biblical name. Kevin is believed to be derived from the Irish coem "kind, gentle, and handsome" and gein "birth". In Irish it is Caoimhín, pronounce Kweeveen, and in old Irish Caoimhghín or Caemgen.Kevin means gentle and lovable.
To prevent your toddler from hitting your dog, you can teach them gentle ways to interact with the dog, supervise their interactions closely, and consistently redirect their behavior if they try to hit the dog. It's important to also model gentle behavior towards the dog yourself and provide positive reinforcement when your toddler interacts with the dog in a kind and gentle manner.
It's madra trídhathach in Irish.

The term Gentle Giant was originally applied to those breeds of dog who were greater than 30" at their withers AND had gentle instinct. That being said it included the Saint Bernard, Newfoundland (who is shorter than 30" on average these days), Great Dane, (Old English) Mastiff, Great Pyrenees. The term was not meant to include the breeds of dog who can be greater than 30 inches at their withers, but who are not on average specifically gentle. So even though a Fila Brasileiro can be gentle, that breed is not considered to be a gentle breed. Neither is an Akbash dog specifically gentle, nor a Tibetan Mastiff, and certainly not a Rottweiller. Again, these dogs can certainly be gentle, but their breeds are not "Gentle Giant" breeds.
