The word guesstimating is used to describe the act of both guessing and estimating something. The word is considered to be a portmanteau of the English language. It was first used around 1934 by American statisticians.

Most women wear shoes. The only time they wouldn't is when swimming or perhaps playing outside. So I'm guesstimating about 91%.

How can you measure the water in cactus plants?

It's difficult for the non scientifically employed gardener to measure a cactus plant's water levels. But there's a way of guesstimating. A cactus plant has ribbed sides that fill out with more water inside, and sink in with less. Filled out ribbing identifies a cactus plant as being 90%+ full of water. The sunken in look indicates 75% and less.

What year was a Winchester model 94 30 WCF serial number 1401837 made?

The gun was made during the "war years", some time between 1943 and 1948.Throughout their history, Winchester was meticulous in their record keeping, but for some reason I've never had properly explained, they dropped the ball in this era.If you check some of the other posts, there are guys that are guesstimating the year, and they've got to be at least close.

How much Cost to fix gas gauge?

No way of even guesstimating without first having diagnosed the issue, not to mention the year, make, and model of the vehicle. It could be a faulty fuel sending unit (which typically requires the tank to be dropped in order to replace it), a faulty gauge, a frayed or broken wire somewhere, a computer issue.... you gotta figure out what's wrong before a cost can be put to it.

Have you had to operate with not having all the information needed to make a decision?

Guesstimate! I was introduced to this term a few years ago when I faced the situation you have stated. I have interviewed hundreds of candidates for recruitment and have always known that I will never have all the information I need. The idea is to narrow down your 'must-have' list and get the bare essentials answered. then with the other available information make a best guess. Always remember to gauge the risk in case your decision fails. As long as you are aware of the risk, you can be prepared. I am guesstimating you are asking about a professional situation; in case of matters of the heart, do what puts a smile on your face (and doesn't harm another). Jobxray.com

How much energy does 1 MW solar park produce per annum?

It all depends on where the solar park is situated. It is dependent on the insolation value of the area. Generally speaking the closer to the equator you are the better your insolation value is. But for arguments sake we can use some rough values to calculate how much energy is produced. Typically photovoltaics have a 15% efficiency level: 1MW solar park at peak can produce 1MW per hour therefore 1MWh. Now times that for a 24 hour period = 24Mwh/day For 365 days a year = 8760MWh/year 15% efficient = 1314Mwh/year. Remember this a guesstimating but should give you a ball park number.

Why did Florida become a state if there weren't enough people to follow the rule?

What rule is "the rule" that you're talking about? There's nothing in the constitution that specifies a minimum population. There was the "Northwest Ordinance" of 1787, which specified that new states would be created out of the Northwest Territory when the population in a given region reached 60,000. However, the territory that became the state of Florida wasn't in the Northwest Territory so strictly speaking that rule didn't apply, and there were probably 60,000 people there when it became a state in 1845 anyway (I can't find a population figure for that year, but there were almost that many in 1840, and considerably more than that by 1850; guesstimating from the growth rate, they probably hit 60,000 sometime around 1842).

What is the percentages of deaths caused by space travel?

Of all the deaths caused by space travel, 100% of them were caused by space travel.Of all the people who have been launched from the Earth aboard space vehicles, however, the number of deaths has been relatively minuscule. To come at it from another angle . . .-- Space 'travel' has been a reality since Yuri Gagarin's flight in 1961 . . . roughlyfifty years now.-- During that time, I'm guesstimating that perhaps 30 people have died in thecourse of preparation, execution, or conclusion of space travel.-- The CIA World Factbook estimates the world crude mortality rate at 8.37 per 1000 per year.-- Assuming a world population of 6 billion, that says that during the fifty years ofspace travel, something like 2.5 billion people have died.-- That puts space-travel casualties at 0.0000012 percent of all deaths.
