Due to Haiti being both a Latin American and Carribean nation, it is quite diverse.

About 80 to 85% of the country's descendents are of African descent. The remaining percentage are of mixed heritage. There are those who possess French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, English, Russian, Polish, Irish, Danish and Armenian ancestry.

Some Haitians may also be of Jewish or Middle Eastern background- mostly Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian. Like many of its Latin American neighbors, a number of Haitians have Amerindian heritage, primarily Taino and Carib, although there aren't any known fullblooded members living on the island today. Among the population, there are Haitians who are of East Asian(primarily Chinese and Japanese) and East Indian descent. Lastly there are those of Hispanic background(primarily Cuban and Dominican)
