Your food enters through your mouth and you start chemically and mechanically breaking down your food. Then your food goes down your esophagus with peristalsis. When your food enters your stomach, it is again chemically and mechanically digested. Then your food goes down your small intestine where the minerals and nutrients are taken out. When your food enters the large intestine the water is taken from it. Then it exits out of your anus.
The stomach is where the food is broke down. By acids produced inside the stmoach.

When you die, the food in your stomach continues to break down because of the stomach acid that is inside the stomach at the time of death. Once the acid has neutralized, the food will no longer be digested. This takes about 24 hours.

The sea star is the only animal that can turn its stomach inside-out. It does so by pushing its stomach out of its body to digest food externally before retracting it back inside.
The stomach has to be very muscular in order to with stand the acid inside and to stretch to allow food in.
Food vacuoles are structures that form in other organisms, such as protists, to digest food inside their cells. In humans, digestion mainly occurs in the stomach through the action of enzymes and stomach acid breaking down food. The human digestive system does not form food vacuoles because digestion is extracellular, occurring in the stomach and intestines rather than inside cells.
The ridges inside the stomach are known as rugae. They are folds in the stomach lining that allow the stomach to expand when it fills with food and liquid. Rugae also increase the surface area for gastric secretions, aiding in the digestive process by facilitating the mixing and breakdown of food.
By pushing up through their mouths then the stomach opens like a mouth and gets the food.
