Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is about Harry Potter's life after the death of his parents, James and Lily Potter. When mysterious letters start flooding his house on Privet Drive, his guardians, (the Dursleys) become angry and stop him receiving the letters. Eventually, Harry is given a letter by Rubeus Hagrid and is told that he is a wizard - the Dursleys have lied to him his whole life. He is now old enough to start attending Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Harry quickly discovers he is famous because he is the only person in the world to have survived the killing curse and he destroyed Lord Voldemort at the same time when he was only one year old. Now, ten years later Harry has to find out who is attempting to steal the Philosopher's Stone and save it before it helps Lord Voldemort return to power with the help of his two best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
