A really nasty substance, causing poisoning in humans.
The environmental activist Erin Brokovich came to fame because of her fight over this substance. At more than one site.
It is commonly produced in industrial processes (including such simple things as welding of stainless steel) and may persist in consumer products. Such as tanned shoe leathers.
It has the chemical symbol, Cr(VI). You'll need a moderate understanding of chemistry to follow the details of its mechanisms.
Hexavalent chromium is a chemical used with wood preservation, textile dyes, and leather tanning. When it is inhaled it is considered to be a carcinogen.
cromium
Hexavalent refers to a chemical compound or element that has a valence (combining capacity) of six. This term is commonly used in chemistry to describe elements like chromium and molybdenum that can form six bonds with other elements. Hexavalent compounds can have unique chemical properties and applications.
It is a valence of chromium. The hexavalent chromium is present in anions as CrO42- and Cr2O72-.
i dont know why
Phosphorus can be bi-, tri-, penta- and hexavalent.
hexavalent chromium
My thinking is ... If intrinsinc semicoductor is doped with Hexavalent Impurity, then energy level of outermost orbit of hexavalent atom, will fall below than that of pentavalent atom, so more amout of energy will be required to move this newly generated electron to move from fermi level to conduction band of semicondoctor. And vice versa for Bavalent.
