i believe that air pressure at sea level is high because when you go lower into water ur ears pop b/c the pressure is so high. Hope this helps :)

Air pressure at sea level is considered high because the weight of the air above exert pressure on the surface. This pressure decreases as altitude increases due to the decrease in the weight of the air column above.
Sea level pressure, sometimes as mean sea level pressure.
Air in high mountains is thinner because there is less atmospheric pressure as you go higher in elevation compared to air at sea level. The lower pressure at high altitudes makes it harder to breathe and can lead to altitude sickness if not acclimated. Additionally, there may be lower humidity levels in high mountain air compared to air at sea level.
Below sea level atmospheric pressure increases with depth. Air pressure at sea level is about 14.7 psia. Air pressure below sea level would be slightly higher.
The air pressure is greatest at sea level.
Sea level pressure.
sea level
The air pressure at sea level is typically around 1013 millibars or 29.92 inches of mercury.
As you move away from Earth's surface, the pressure decreases. This decrease in pressure is due to the decreasing mass of the atmosphere at higher altitudes. At sea level, the pressure is highest because of the weight of the air above pressing down.
Sea level
At sea level
Air pressure in a valley below sea level would be higher than at sea level. This is because the weight of the air column above is greater in the valley due to the higher density of air molecules compressed into a smaller volume.
