The Netherlands is know as Holland. The country is called both names.
I would like to know
don't know lol
Holland and The Netherlands are often used to refer to the same place. Holland is actually only a part of the Netherlands, so they are not the same thing. Many people don't know that and use both names to refer to the same thing. Usually when people use Holland they are intending to refer to the Netherlands. So technically it was the Netherlands and Spain beat them 1-0, but if you said Holland people would know what you mean.

He invented the submarine, something like an underwater boat, if you don't know what it is. John Philip Holland developed the first submarine to be formally commissioned by the U.S. Navy, and the first Royal Navy submarine, the Holland.

If you want to know the dutch word for 'a city', it is 'een stad'. But if you want to know what it is, it's the same as anywhere else.
Amsterdam is a city located in the province known as Noord Holland which is in the country known as The Netherlands. The country actually has a total of 12 provinces but only 2 have the word Holland in them. (Noord Holland and Zuid Holland) The country is often incorrectly called Holland by both locals and tourists. People who reside in provinces outside of Noord and Zuid Holland typically don't care for the country being called after a province. The actual name of the country is Het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden which translates into The Kingdom of the Netherlands.
