The term hydro-geology is derived from two words; hydro, which means water and geology, which means the study of earth. Hydro-geology is the field of geology which is concerned with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the earths crust.

What is tha concept of environmental geology?

Environmental geology, like hydrogeology, is an applied science concerned with the practical application of the principles of geology in the solving of environmental problems.

What is difference between hydrology and hydrogeology?

Hydrology is the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water on Earth and other planets, including the hydrologic cycle, water resources and environmental watershed sustainability.Hydrogeology (hydro-meaning water, and -geology meaning the study of the Earth) is the area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the Earth's crust.

An area in which water travels downward to become part of an aquifer?

Used in geology, hydrogeology, soil science, and building science, the porosity of a porous medium (such as rock or sediment) describes the fraction of void space in the material, where the void may contain, for example, air or water. A rock layer with many particles of different sizes contains much more void space, which means lower porosity.

What is the study of properties and effects of water on earth?

Hydrology is the study of the Earth's water. Hydrology includes geohydrology, limnology, oceanography, chemical oceanography, physical oceanography, biological oceanography, geological oceanography and paleoceanography, amongst other Earth Sciences.

Is hydrogeology a branch of geology?

Hydrology is about the study of water, and for others, water management. In specifics, it is the study of movement, distributions and quality of the product, water. How this fits in into earth science is that it is very much related to physical geography and climatology. For example river basins and so on. For more information, i suggest you use Wikipedia, that is often a good place to start.
