Always test a small area before applying to your face. If you can afford it, laser hair removal can be a more permanent solution, although hair may regrow in the months or years following treatment. Laser hair removal can cause side effects, such as hyperpigmentation (darkening of skin), hypopigmentation (loss of color in skin), burning, swelling, and acne.
Typical side effects from laser hair removal are swelling, redness, itching, and mild soreness. These may occur immediately after the treatment and are temporary, usually disappearing after a couple of hours. In more extreme cases, hypopigmentation may occur which leaves light patches on the skin. This usually goes away over time. When the laser setting is too intense for the client's skin tone, minor burns can occur as well which appear to be scab-like in nature.
