What is the old name of Africa?

The name 'Africa' has its history in the distant past, 'Afri' was the name of several Semitic peoples who dwelt in North Africa near Carthage. Their name is usually connected with Phoenician "afar" meaning 'dust. The name may also perhaps be associated with the Berber word "ifri" meaning 'cave', in reference to cave dwellers.; Africa or Ifri or Afer is name of Banu Ifran tribes people from Algeria and Tripolitania or Berber tribe of Yafran. The point is that in ancient times the people of North Africa were referred to by the Mediterranean peoples as the 'Africans', and it is from this derivation that the continent on which they lived was called Africa.

Does it snow in Somalia?

Yes, I used to live in the Sonoran Desert, which covers parts of California, Arizona and the state of Sonora in Mexico. It does snow there from time to time. In fact, we had a white out in Tucson, AZ on Easter 2000 or 2001. It was brief and didn't accumulate, but it DID snow. The mountain ranges surrounding Tucson (Rincons, Santa Ritas, Tuscons, Catalinas and Tortolitas) all gather a bit of white at the peaks. I went for a hike in the Catalinas on Mt Lemmon, which reaches 9,157 ft above sea level. It was April but there was snow so deep that the waist high trail markers were protruding thru the snow, hovering an inch or so above the powder. It also snows in the Mojave desert, which lies just north of the Sonoran, and covers parts of California, Utah, Nevada and Arizona. The Mojave Desert can be called the High Desert, with the Sonoran Desert referred to as the Low Desert.

How can you get a sharper image on your camera?

It is certainly possible to make your digital photos look as good as film photos. Follow a few simple rules for frame-worthy results:Make sure you download your images at full resolution. Image quality is highest when photos are at full resolution.Review the file properties: 300 dpi, 400K, and 1600 x 1200 pixel count is typically good for printing up to 8x10s.Use archival paper to create long-lasting prints. Be sure to store it out of the sun and humidity, as both will degrade the paper. The resolution that the photo is taken at is important but just as important as that will be the was that the photo was printed. Although the home photo printers and improving, I still feel that the photo going through a chemical process (like at a photo lab) will create the best results as well as having the best archieval quality. Also important to the outcome of the photo will be the quality of the camera itself (some have better lenses than others, some will have better color and some will have better allowance for low light situations) I prefer to stay with brands that specialize in optics.
