Why no alcohol after ileoanal anastomosis?

After ileoanal anastomosis, it is generally advised to avoid alcohol because it can irritate the gastrointestinal tract and may exacerbate symptoms like diarrhea and dehydration, which are common post-surgery. Alcohol can also interfere with the healing process and medication effectiveness. Additionally, it may lead to complications such as pouchitis, an inflammation of the pouch created during the procedure. Therefore, avoiding alcohol helps promote recovery and maintain digestive health.

Does a person who has been operated of Ileoanal Anastomosis continue to have inflammation and blood?

I had my second surgery in Sept. 09. The only inflammation I have is if I don't eat right and I end up going to the bathroom a lot. Also, if i get inflammed i use balenol. It is a hygience cream you apply to help with any soreness. Blood only around the edge if i go a lot. Nothing internal like I was having from my colitis. Hope this helps.
