Imhotep is credited as being the master architect responsible for building Pharaoh Djoser's "Step Pyramid" complex at Saggara, and is suspected of also building Sekhemkhet's unfinished pyramid as well. The Step Pyramid is still considered today to be one of the architectural wonders of ancient Egypt.

He used a lot of ancient architecture in his tomb, and that's why we still know about much of the ancient egyptian artworks.
It's funny that so far I have found a question asking exactly the same thing as the questions on page 168 of "Discovering Art History" Gr.9 Textbook.
