If the impurity is of type "n" - an element (the impurity) that has 5 electrons in its outer shell - conduction will be mainly via electrons. If the impurity is of type "p" - the atoms of the impurity has 3 electrons in its outer shell - the conduction will be mainly via holes.

fermi level:- This is the level of energy that lies in the forbiddan gap. It is the level of energy where the concentration of electrons in conduction band is equal to the concentration of holes in valance band. Since in intrinsic semiconductor the probability of electrons in conduction band is equal to the holes in valance band therefore lies exactly in the middle of fforbiddan gap In case of extrinsic semiconductor material, that depends what sort of dopping is there. If the donar impurity is there, it will shift towards conduction band, and if there is acceptor impurity it will shift towards valance band.

My thinking is ... If intrinsinc semicoductor is doped with Hexavalent Impurity, then energy level of outermost orbit of hexavalent atom, will fall below than that of pentavalent atom, so more amout of energy will be required to move this newly generated electron to move from fermi level to conduction band of semicondoctor. And vice versa for Bavalent.

Intrinsic semiconductor means pure form of semiconductor in this no addtition of impurity.but ext is not pure semicnductor,in this add the impurity which is p-type or n-type .Due to dopping,(adding impurity)excess electorn or photon created in crystal of atom creation of electron or photon depend on dopping material
