Best Answer

it is DNA

or nucleus..

The above answer is wrong. Bacteria do not have a nucleus as they are prokayotic, meaning before nucleus. Bacteria also do not have DNA as it is not necassary for their purposes. Instead they have RNA, (Ribonucleaic Acid as opposed to Deoxyribonucleaic Acid). The RNA is single stranded in a circle as opposed to the double stranded DNA of humans. This structure allows the RNA to be quickly translated into protein. So the answer would be RNA that is "free floating" inside the bacteria.
The control center of a cell is the nucleus. The DNA has the instructions for the cell which is the control center as well.
