Oxygen can be a solid, liquid, or gas, depending on the temperature and pressure and on what other elements it is bound to in a chemical compound.

Free molecular oxygen, as found in the Earth's atmosphere, is a gas. Oxygen bound with hydrogen in the Earth's oceans is a liquid. Oxygen bound with iron in iron oxide (rust) is a solid.
