Does a ship have a sonar?

Most modern combat Navy surface vessels have Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) sonar arrays of some type, and at least 1 Aircraft Carrier does as well (newer carriers use their escort vessels for ASW sonar screens). Essentially, that comes down to Cruisers, Destroyers, and Frigates, which make up the bulk of a Carrier Battle Group or Task Force screen to protect the Carrier from submarine threats. However, those ships, as well as Carriers, also use fixed and rotary wing aircraft with deployable (dipping) and expendable (sonobuoys) sonar as well. Ship sonar systems include the main forward sonar arrays, as well as deployable Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) towed sonar systems.

What is an experimental group?

An experimental group is the group that gets changed. For example if there was a disease and there were 2 different products to cure it, the group, let's say group A, with the product that works, would be the experimental group. This is because it is the group with the product that has been changed for the experiment. The other group, group B, would be the control group because it has the product that stays the same as if nothing ever changed, because that product doesn't work.

Oxidation product of d-ribose?

The oxidation product of d-ribose is ribonate, which is a keto sugar formed by the oxidation of the aldehyde group in d-ribose. This process involves the conversion of the primary alcohol group in d-ribose to a carboxylic acid group. Ribonate is not commonly found in biological systems, as d-ribose is primarily used as an important component in nucleic acids.

Are pink dolphins and submarines the same because they use the same sonar?

Though they both use SONAR (SOund Navigation And Ranging) to navigate, submarines and marine mammals that use sonar are both very different in how they use it.Marine mammal sonar uses a much higher frequency than submarine active sonar systems transmit at. Also, submarines rarely use active sonar due to the fact it immediately gives away your location and range to an enemy. Marine mammals use their active sonar constantly to navigate through the water, communicate, and to find food, while passive sonar is the primary means of submarine navigation.Dolphin sonar sounds like a fast clicking sound, with occasional high frequency "squeals", similar to a dog toy, though at a much higher frequency range. The frequency is high enough that it must be demodulated by special equipment to a lower frequency to really hear it. Usually when submarines go to periscope depth, dolphins set off the torpedo warning alarms since their frequency is at a similar range. As a former Submarine Sonarman, I can also say that it also drives you nuts, especially when there's a whole group of them around the boat.
