In industry erosion is a destruction of a material due to an influence of elements, that have high speed. For example, in turbomachinery erosion can be detected on the blades of turbines or compressors. It's appearance is related to presence of particles of water (as a rule) in steam/air, that move with a high speed against the blades, causing destruction of the latter. Usually it looks as small chipmarks on the surface.

Erosion causes loss of efficiency of blades, and finally - can cause its' complete destruction, and as a result - severe damage of the machine.

How do human activities contribute to erosion?

yes.Humans can contribute to erosion in many ways. One of which is when land is used for industrial agriculture such as: livestock, poultry, fish, and crops. An example of this would be when land is used for crops. When the land is plowed it disturbs soil and plant roots which cause the soil to become loose which in effect cause it to be more easily moved, i.e erosion.
