The message of the cross is a biblical term. However it is only found once in The Bible. 1 Corinthians 1:18. It says that the preaching of the cross is the power of God to them which believe. That was a paraphrase and not a quotation of the scripture. The word in the king James version translates preaching would have been better translated the message of the cross is to them who perish foolishness but to them who believe it is the power of God. The new king James version translates it message. This being said it is a scriptural term. Brother Jimmy preaches and teaches that in order to be saved you must believe that Christ died at the cross was buried and resurrected. This is very obvious. However he also teaches that when Jesus upon the cross said it is finished that all that needed to be done was done. We place our faith in Christ not only for our salvation but also for our daily living or sanctification. This is of course a very simple explanation. In a nut shell the way that brother Jimmy teaches the cross is that we must totally depend upon the blood of Christ for everything as it concerns our spiritual condition. We have no righteousness outside of Christ. Our faith in Jesus is what makes us righteous and the reason he can give us this wonderful blessing is because he paid the sin debt at the cross. 50 years ago the cross was a major theme in Pentecostal preaching, as well as in many baptist churches and preaching. You can not read the bible and not pick up on the importance and centrality of the cross to the Christian faith. The message has been lost and replaced with greed preaching or humanistic preaching. Brother Jimmy feels called to bring the cross of Christ back to the forefront. If you have any further questions I would be glad to go into greater detail.
