JPEG is a stand alone file type. It's a bitmap type of image file where each pixel is designated a color in which when viewed from afar creates a impressionist illusion of an image. It's a pretty standard file type that almost all programs can read. Problem is that it's hard to blow up properly and is prone to pixelation. Photoshop is just one of many programs that can output to JPEG.
There is no other way u have to have photoshop to turn the image to jpeg it will not work otherwise it will just turn back to its original form that it was in
PageMaker allowed placement of native Photoshop files.
A Bitmap is a file you can save pictures as like JPEG or PNG, in photoshop it means save the picture as a bitmap

In Photoshop, save as, and the option of file type will appear.
JPEG is the most used format for the memorization of photographs. You can open a JPEG on any computer and without having to install any particular program.PSD on the other hand is a PhotoShop Document, so to open one you must have Photoshop. As an alternative, you can also open a PSD with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
You cannot directly. You have to open it in 3D Studio Max, then save it to a format that is supported by Photoshop (typically you will render it to a jpeg for example), then you can open it with photoshop or ther image editing software.
Save it as a .Jpeg and go to that file, right click, Set as desktop background.
Photoshop supports images up to 32 bit/channel.
The "Open with" window gives you the option of selecting which program to use to open the file you have selected. jpeg is not listed because jpeg is a file format, not a program. If you clicked on a jpeg file and got an "Open with" selection window, you want to select a program that handles jpeg's, such as MS Paint, Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop.
You will need to first scan your image and then save it as a file that photoshop recognizes (jpeg, tiff, png, etc.) You can then open the image from photshop (file-> open)
A compression signature in the case of JPEG files is a signature embedded into a photo taken by a camera that is the signature of the camera that took it, or a photo editor (such as Photoshop) that compressed the image into a JPEG file. A program like JPEGsnoop can uncover compression signatures in JPEG files.
