A label is usually a heading put into a cell to indicate what some values may be. Values are usually numbers but can be other things, like dates. So you could have a list of values that are sales made by people and at the top of the column you could have a cell with the word Sales in it, acting as a label for the values. Beside each individual value you might have the name of the salesperson that made it as a label.
