There is currently some confusion about LED televisions because there are two technologies using much the same name.
LCD televisions use a light source behind the LCD panel. Light shines through the LCD shutters to produce an image. The first light source used was fluorescent but 2009 and 2010 have seen fluorescent lighting being replaced with LED lighting. The full description should be something like "LED illuminated LCD" It's a bit of a mouthful so they tend to get called LED.
There is also active LED technology being introduced into domestic televisions. The same technology has been used for several years in large video displays. With smaller LEDs being made, a domestic sized screen can be made with a red, green and blue LED for every pixel in the screen. The LEDs are controlled to directly generate a full color image. This is a true LED television. LEDs are difficult to drive at very low levels but as this issue is overcome, LED televisions are likely to become far more common as the technology tends to be somewhat simpler and more compact than LCD.
There are many website available that explain the differences between LCD and LED HDTVs. Try this we blink at http://lcdtvbuyingguide.com/HDTV/led-vs-lcd.html
Price wise, LCD is the better buy. LED is still priced for the price-insensitive consumer. Wait a year or two.
Led and Lcd are pretty much similar; however, Lcd televisions are more likely to have their screens broken than the Led ones. You should probably go to an electronic retail store for more information by asking a professional to assist you.
LED and LCD TVs are both based on very similar hardware but have entirely different types of backlight. LED monitors tend to have a much longer lifespan than LCD displays so they are best for sheer staying power by far.
They are actually quite similar. LED televisions are actually just LCD televisions that use LED lighting for the back light instead of the traditional fluorescent CFL lighting. http://lcdtvbuyingguide.com/HDTV/led-vs-lcd.html

led is better than lcd tv
LED's are usually also LCD's. LED LCD's are usually better as you do not have to worry about the light bulb will not burn out because led's last longer. I would suggest LED LCD's as the lightbulb not burning out will save you some money.
LED
The difference between led hdtv and lcd hdtv is that the led uses led lighting instead of lcd lighting that's used in computers and cell phones. the lcd hdtv is the oldest model and the led is the newest. With the led the picture is clearer.
LED is generally thought of as being better, for many reasons. The picture isn't as dark, and no image can be burned into the picture, Generally speaking, images can get burnt into LCD screens rather easy, from only leaving it on for too long.
There's not much of a difference, the quality really depends on the brand. The biggest difference between LED and LCD is that LCD has fluorescent lamps in it and LED has LED lights in the back of the screen.
