You never gave any reason why you should be embarrassed to be seen with this young man. If he is a good person then why should you care what others think. Dare to be different and do not start your life out by letting others control what you want in life. If you like this young man and he is a good person then be true to yourself and at least be friendly with him and be mature enough to be seen with him. You owe no one an explanation as to why you are with this person.
