The manorial system provided serfs with places to live, fields to farm, and protection in times of distress, such as wars. The serf had to give up a measure of independence to get these things, including giving up any right to move away from the manor, but there were times when things were sufficiently difficult that people gave up such rights willingly.
For the lords and other people of higher rank, the benefits included having a relatively comfortable income and place to live.
There is a link below to a related question on serfs.
Feudalism was the way of life in the Middle Ages. War was a way of life and manor houses were a frequent target. Safety was a primary need. Therefore, Lords divided their lands among vassals. In exchange for a fief, vassals pledged their service to the lord. The manor house was the foundation of the feudal economic system. Peasants farmed a lord's land and in exchange could look to the manor house for protection from bands of marauders and the security of being able to remain on the land all their life.
The bailiff was appointed by the lord to collect rent from tenants on the manor. he supervised the services due to the lord from his tenants. he also represented the peasants to the lord. he helped oversee the peasants work, and managed the day-to-day profits and expenses of the manor
Manor Life The center of the manor was the house where the lord and his family lived. A manor was a piece of land having farm fields, and woods, a hamlet or village, farm buildings, and a house for a lord to live in with his family. Sometimes there was a second, smaller, nice house. Peasants called serfs lived and worked on the manor. The homes of the lords of the estates, and tended to be large and much more comfortable than the houses of other people. Some of the manor houses were fortified, and these could look very much like castles Activities on the manor were from farming to woodworking to wine making. Town Life In the center of the town were the market square and a cathedral. Most medieval towns were dirty, cramped, and busy places. The streets were narrow, dirty, and usually not paved. Goldsmiths, bakers, weavers, and dryers had a town life. Most of the houses were made out of wood and easily caught on fire. In towns people with the same occupation formed groups called guilds. Guilds watched out for their members and worked to make sure everyone found employment. HOPE THIS HELPS :)

The bubonic plague killed many people including peasants/workers, so a lot of manor work was left neglected.
Marwell Manor is not a true story. It is a fictional location in the video game The Sims 4. It does not exist in real life.
