The sun and the stars

thy god of the maya was the sun god because he made light
The Gospel of John 1:1 -5, " In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it".
God made light so that life could exist on the earth and so we could see what is around us. Specifically, the sun was made to provided a light source for daytime, and to provide reflected light via the moon at night.

The speed of light is a constant of nature. If anybody MADE it, it must have been a god, or gods.
If I understand your question correctly, God is the light of this world as is His Son Jesus Christ. From them comes all knowledge (Light) Precept upon precept, here a little there a little until we all come to an understanding of God and become partakers of his light. Alternatively, if you are referring to the phrase below from the Nicene creed And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father [the only-begotten; that is, of the essence of the Father, God of God], Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; This is a statement of the divinity of Jesus, being of the same essence as God. It denies that Jesus was in any way made or created, even if that "creating" was done by God. Jesus proceeds from or streams forth from the Father, and has always existed.
