The oceanic plate is made of denser (and thinner) rock than the continental crust, so the oceanic plate gets subducted (pushed underneath) where it descends and gets melted by geothermal heat.

The less dense continental crust rises above the less dense oceanic crust. Events that may occur include volcanic activity (eruptions as an example) and earthquakes. Processes that occur includes the subduction of the oceanic plate (mentioned above) and the melting of the plate and of the material carried by the plate. Features formed may include an oceanic trench, volcano/es and faults and cracks.

The volcanoes will always erupt Acidic/Andesitic/Felsic material. I hope this is adequate information for you.

The rock of the ocean plate is denser to that of a continental, so if they were to collide the heavier ocean plate is forced below the continental. This is how ocean trenches form.

Where is subduction most likely to occur?

Where an oceanic plate dives under a continental plate (e.g. just offshore the Washington/Oregon coast, creating a line of explosive volcanos just inland).
