Why is the inner core made out of solid metal instead of solid rock
the two layers of rock that made up of mantle is the solid rock and liquid rock
no they are simply made of sand
The Earth is made up of several layers, divided by sub-layers, divided by even more sub-layers. There is the core, which is mostly made up of solid iron; the outer core which is up to 10% liquid so still contains a lot of solid rock; the lower mantle which is ductile (solid rock that is not completely melted but still solid in a 'plastic' state), the upper mantle which consists of crystalline forms of olivine and pyroxenes among some other solid materials, and then the crust which on average is about 40 km thick. Whereas the crust is made of solid rock, there are other layers that are solid rock as well.
