Mixture of Sanskrit and Tamil. This language was employed for more than a thousand years by scholars in their commentaries on the Tamil hymns of the alwars ( Tamil saints), which contain rich Vedic references. Peria achaan Pillai's commentary on the

four thousand hymns of the alwars is famous. Tamil script has certain limitations.

While there are four variations of 'pa' in Sanskrit, Tamil has just one.

Just as Tamil enriched itself by associating with Sanskrit, Malayalam also has benefited by making use of Sanskrit words.

Mani plus Pravalam isMmani Pravalam. Mani means pearl and Pravalam means carol. It is a mixture of Pearl and Carol.
