What type of Matter that has definite shape but no definite volume?

The type of matter with a definite volume but no fixed shape is a liquid. In a gas, there is no definite volume or shape, and in a solid there is a fixed shape and definite volume. A liquid is free to adopt of shape of its container, but its volume is fixed.

How is plasma different?

Plasma is made up of free electrons and atoms that are stripped of their electrons. It has no definite shape or volume. A Solid has a definite shape and a definite volume. A Liquid has no definite shape but has a definite volume. A Gas has no definite shape or volume.

Do not have definite?

Gases are highly compressible. So they don't have definite volume and pressure. As volume is reduced for a given mass pressure increases. Also as temperature changes then at constant volume pressure changes considerably. Same way for a constant pressure temperature change brings a change in the volume. Moreover gasses do not have a free surface.

What are chemical properties of different types of matter?

Matter can be classified according to its composition Solid: has a definite shape, mass & volume & are highly rigid. They cannot flow, have high density, are almost incompressible & have any no. of free surfaces. Liquid: has a definite mass & volume but no fixed shape & are less rigid. They can flow & take up the shape of the container in which it is stored. Gas: have a definite mass but have no fixed volume or shape & is not at all rigid. They can flow & take up the shape & volume of the container in which it is stored.

How does the movement of particles in a liquid help to explain the shape and volume in a liquid?

Because its particles are free to move, a liquid has no definite shape. However, it does have a definite volume.

Does gas have an definite volume?

No, possessing volume is not a property of gas. A gas neither have definite volume not shape. The reason behind this is that " gasses molecules are apart from each other, therefore free space left between the molecules which allows them to move randomly .... Hence gasses haven't definite volume..

Why liquid has no definite shape but has definite volume?

Yes, liquids have a definite volume but not a definite shape, compared to solids that have a definite shape and a definite volume or gasses that have neither a definite shape or volume.

Molecular structure of natural gas?

The molecules are not bound making them free to move around. They have no definite shape or volume.

What is the State of matter that has only one free surface?

liquid

What is matter that is free to move and fill its available volume is in the state?

gas

What are solid things?

A solid is one of three common states of matter. Your other two are gas and liquid. A gas is a free flowing fluid that fills the entire volume of it's container. (undefined volume and undefined shape) a liquid is a free flowing fluid that does not fill the entire volume of it's container, but rather formes to it's shape. (Set volume and undefined shape A solid is a form of matter that has a set volume and a set shape. It is not a fluid and it does not flow freely. Examples: rocks, trees, tables, cups, pencils, etc...
