Overriding is when a class that inherits methods from a parent class has its own version of one of the methods in the parent class. Thus, the sub class will use its own version of the method instead of the one inherited from the parent.

For example, if a sports car class inherits from a vehicle class, it might override the vehicle's drive() method by having its own drive() method that makes it go faster.
