ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is used to hold data / information in a computer that isn't ever going to be changed. Most modern computers don't use ROM chips any more because the data held cannot be changed when bugs are found. Smaller electronics devices (especially toys) quite often use ROM chips to hold a computer program / sound effects etc etc.
This is basically a type of memorywithinthe computer that for the most part you can't edit or change. Typically, something like the BIOS: Basic Input Output System of you computer is stored on a ROM chip. The data is not edited or changed in any way, it's only read. Nevertheless when you upgrade you BIOS then I guess this may qualify as changing what is on the ROM chip. You may also possibly be interested in RAM: Random Access Memory. This is a memory chip that temporarily holds data that is to be used in various computer programs. The memory on this chip is lost when it no longer has power being supplied to it. ROM on the other hand is able to retain it's data in it's memory even if you unplug your computer completely.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Rom: 1) full form : read only memory.
2) it will contain all the data even if the computer is shut down
3) it is a permanent and nonvolatile memory.
