Do not pass go. Do not collect $200 dollars. Go directly to jail. Unconditional surrender is when those defeated must acquiesce to the victors unconditionally. No quarters are granted, no considerations offered, just surrender. Conditional surrender is when those defeated have gained enough victories during battle to make conditions upon the terms of surrender and the victors are willing to grant these conditions rather than continue with war.
In 1945, unconditional surrender meant no negotiated terms.
It meant they could do what they chose to. "Unconditional" means you can take whatever you like from the surrendering country, and do whatever you want.
Unconditional surrender is absolute trust. It starts with acceptance of whatever happens in our life. That is the first surrender, surrender to the law of Karma, whatever unfolds is the reaction of our own past actions. We surrender to that without any question, trusting the law. Then comes surrender to what will be, when we hand over our life, our future, unconditionally. That is Divine unconditional surrender. We live without fear, or worry like a feather that surrenders to the air, like a leaf tossed on a river. So we must surrender.
The unconditional surrender of Germany
Early in 1943 the Allies resolved to accept only unconditional surrender and not to negotiate terms. Unconditional surrender means what it says: a country surrenders and allows the victors to do as they please.
