We as Christians are called to be humble, meek, and quiet in spirit and in dress. This all encompasses modesty for a Christian, especially the woman. The level of modesty differs from one person or group to the next. For example the Amish women wear only long traditional style plain dress/ cape dresses and prayer caps or head coverings. The Mennonites are not as strict and can wear floral print long dresses or skirts as long as they pass the calf and they also wear less traditional style head coverings. Then you have Christians who don't dress any differently from non-Christians. The important thing to remember is to go about it in a humble way, don't think that dressing a certain waybwill make you a better Christian. Your dress should be a reflection of your heart. Also as Christian women we are not supposed to cause our brothers to stumble, literally and mentally. When you lust after someone you have committed adultery in your heart. And we as Chrostian women want to help our brothers in their journey not harm them. Yes men have a responsibility for their thoughts, but it is hard for anyone to cast out sinful thoughts. But if we are mindful of our dress and what thoughts it could provoke in men we can help them and make their journey easier. The most important thing we must remember when we get dressed in the morning is to make sure that first we are dressing to bring honor and glorybto God. A good question to ask yourself is " if I were to meet God today, would I want him to see me in what I am wearing right now?" I hope this helps those who are looking to dress modestly.
