That depends on several things: Spiders If the spider is not poisonous, then there usually isn't any real health risk, other than a mild irritation or infection (can use an antibiotic cream on it). But if the spider is poisonous, then there is a health risk, and you need to see your doctor immediately. If you know you've been bitten by a spider, but don't know if it's poisonous or not, the best thing to do is see your doctor and give a description of the spider. Ticks Most tick bites don't pose a real health risk, other than a mild irritation or infection (can use an antibiotic cream on it). But ticks can spread disease, such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. If you know it is a tick bite, keep a close watch on it, and if there are any unusual symptoms such as fever, swelling, chills, etc., contact your doctor immediately.

Why is a tick bite more a concern than a spider bite?

Well, spiders bite and then leave. Ticks don't bite, they bury their heads in your skin. Little more dangerous, I think so... Ticks also spread lyme disease, which is deadly.

What kind of spider has a funnel shaped web Is it dangerous Can it kill you?

Tarantulas are known for their intricate funnel-shaped webs, but there are species of spider such as the Wolf Spider who's web is funnel shaped as well. More than likely the spider is not dangerous, but it depends on the species of the spider you're dealing with. A common spider in the pacific northwest that create a funnel like web are the hobo spider. It can not kill you but their venom is rather potent. It can dissolve the skin surrounding the bite if the bite is not treated correctly. They are large, and the hobo is larger than the brown, and the hobo is also more dangerous. In addition to greater size, it has greater speed and the venom is more potent ------------------------- The spider he's talking about is the Sydney Funnel-Web which can kill a human within 40 minutes of the time of the bite. & The Hobo spider is not the spider that dissolves skin, the Brown Recluse is the one that dissolves skin.

Is this spider dangerous?

I am not sure ... but that depends on the species:Araneus was originally called Epeira.Araneus spiders possess various venom's, but will deliver a dry bite on 8 out of 10 occasions. Females bite more often than males, who would rather flee or feign death.Araneus diadematusSince this tends to be a passive animal, it is difficult to provoke to bite---but if it does, the bite is just slightly unpleasant and completely harmless to humans. But because there are more species the pain may be diferent:One Bite Report:- On the arm it can swelled badly for 3 days. And you may fell nausea's after a bite. Also known as Orb-Weaving Spiders their venon is of low risk (not toxic) to humans. They are a non-aggressive group of spiders. Seldom bite. Be careful not to walk into their webs at night - the fright of this spider crawling over one's face can be terrifying and may cause a heart attack, particularly to the susceptible over 40 year olds.(from wikipedia, Natural History Museum and USA Spider Identification Chart)
