This is a broad question and there are many events in history that have been important, but the learning to make fire is probably the most important event for man. Because of fire man was able to eat more protein and that made his brain develop and he gained higher order thinking skills. He also began to sit around the fire and communicate with others and this created a new grouping and associated social orders. Finally the fire provided heat and protection.
