its talking about a relationship where there's obviously not alot of trust. she blames him for cheating but he denies it ("i never did what you said that i did when i was gone") and he's thinking she has feelings for some other guy, and he feels like he wasted his time ("shoulda known better not to wait around") and he is saying its wrong for her to have had feelings for him ("it's wrong you dreamt of him"). i like that this song implies that its almost worse to have feelings for someone else rather than just cheat physically.
