Myrrh was/is a fragrant oil made from the sap of several Commiphora trees. In ancient Egypt, it was used as an embalming ingredient. In Biblical times, myrrh was an ingredient of the holy oil, as well as an extremely valuable and expensive perfume.

How many wise men set off for Bethlehem?

Three did! This is the common misconception. If you refer to the Biblical account, you will discover that the actual number of magi ("wise men") is not mentioned. Three different types of gifts are, however, leading one to jump to the conclusion that there were three magi. However, it is entirely possible that three magi brought gold, three brought frankincense and 3 brought myrhh - or 17 did so!

The name of one of the three wise men?

Gfts from the 3 wise men?

The wise men - the Bible does not say there were three of them - gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Because there were three gifts, it is assumed that there were three givers. But one person may have given more than one gift, or several people may have given the same gift. We don't know.

How many wise men are there in the dessert in England?

well... if you can find a desert in england then you can count the number of wise men. Then again being wise men in england they probably wouldn't have chosen to live in one bit of desert so any men you do find in this imaginary english desert of yours are probly not very wise

Who of the three wise men give baby jesus gold?

the three wise menAnswer:None of them.Scripture states that the "wise men" [the exact number of them is undisclosed] came to Jesus' "house" as many as TWO YEARS two years after His birth... not when He was an "infant" in the stable."And when they were come INTO THE HOUSE, they saw the YOUNG CHILD [not infant in the manger] with Mary His mother..." (Matt.2:11).Herod subsequently ordered the murder of: "...all the children that were in Bethlehem [assuming this means 'male' children ?], and in all the coasts thereof, FROM TWO YEARS OLD AND UNDER, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men." (verse 16)The number of wise men isn't mentioned in the Bible. Men have made it into a story of "three wise men," from the number of gifts mentioned [verse 11].There could have been "two" wise men... or "twenty-two"... who knows? And any number of them could have presented multiples of the same gifts. But, however many "wise men" there may have been... none of them appeared to the "infant" Jesus in the manger. They arrived at Jesus' parents' "house" as many as two years later.
