no it doesnt, if you buy your wii in usa can only play ntsc and vise versa. Answer 2 - Actually, PAL users do NOT have trouble with PAL OR NTSC because they can handle both types of video formats. NTSC (USA and Canada) can sometimes get away with it at a 3x speed. I have a NTSC wii and I play PAL games on it. You need to look up bannerbomb (if they don't censer that out) and then truchabug (make sure you read/watch a tutorial on this one), then cIOS and then NeoGamma or USBLoaderGX. BTW I am telling you to mod your wii. It sounds like a lot, but it'll only take about 10 mins. I don't know of any other way to do this right out of the box. and this process is FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! But then, like the author of Answer 3, I have also software-modified my Wii. Using software that has NOT been authorised by Nintendo (so-called 'homebrew' software) you can do all sorts of lovely things to your Wii, such as enable the DVD drive to play movies; change the region settings of your wii, stream avi / divx movies from your home PC to your TV using the Wii as a media center, backup your games to your PC, play games from an external HARD drive attached to your Wii (I seldom use disks these days) and use open source software. HOWEVER it takes a bit of research and know-how to figure each of these programs out. You need to download the correct software and get it onto a SD 'camera' memory card to initially 'break into' the Wii and get your programs to run. This afternoon I used 'any region changer' on my Wii. I can now play the Wii Virtual Console game "Mario Golf 64' on my wii at full speed (60Hz), despite the fact that the game has not being sold here in the UK. I also can play my NTSC imported gamecube games that have been stuck in my loft for a couple of years (my gamecube was an import from the USA) and my daughter enjoyed a bit of 'animal crossing' and 'luigi's mansion'. THE BIG BUT is that Nintendo do not want you running all sorts of non-licenced software on your Wii, so if DO start down this route, you had better disconnect your Wii from the Wiiconnect24 service, and also don't update the firmware on your Wii any more either! You wouldn't want any malicious attack from Nintendo over the internet turning your lovely Wii into am overpriced paperweight. answer 5 i agree with everything in the other answers except for unplug your internet from the wii if you also look up priiloader you can hack the wii to block all of nintendos updates through the net and by game disc!!. There are also lots of ways to download apps and files directly to your wii using homebrew browser and nus downloader. But you need to make sure you read the install guiudes before doing anything to the wii as ALL relevant hacks need to be enabled.
