Best Answer

The tendency of neurons in the brain to atrophy, slow-down, or die, due to sclerosis, fibrosis, and/or due to long-term on-going abuse of certain drugs and alcohol, and/or due to long-term on-going exposure to certain chemical substances acting as neuro-toxins and/or to their derivative illnesses/diseases that might cause demyelination and/or loss of myelin sheath constitution/thickness, and/or impaired cellular chemo-electro-conductivity, thus decreasing efficiency of catalysts, electrolytes, neurotransmitters, and other "neurolytic substances" responsible for optimum intra-cellular activity, osmotic balance, and inter-cellular communication.
