Nuegados are chewy fried fritters made from the root yuca (cassava). They're not sweet, but the syrupy, dark mixture in which they sit makes up for that.

Longaniza de Nahuizalco is extremely popular. The drinks can be quite an experience. The horchata is made from the seeds of the Morro tree, and not from rice and milk like the Mexican version.
