According to The Bible, at least three things of note happened in Nazareth:
*Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth when Gabriel spoke to Mary about the birth of Jesus (Luke 1:26, 27)
*After returning from Egypt, Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the rest of the family lived in Nazareth as Jesus grew up(Luke 2:51) (Matthew 2:19-23; Luke 2:39).
*After Jesus left and was baptized by John, he returned to Nazareth and read aloud Isaiah 61:1+2 in the Synagogue there, applying it to himself. (Luke 4:16-30+Matthew 4:13).
The most significant would have to be the birth of Jesus, Himself. Never before nor since has the world experienced such an event. God was born as a man, He experienced all human emotions yet was devine and sinless. It was a defining time in the history of the world.
First century Jerusalem was chaotic to say the least. Ruled by Rome, through Roman soldiers the might of Ceasar was felt to all those that lived in that time. Roman soldiers were professionals at the art of supressing the masses, keeping order, and dealing harshly and swiftly with those that stepped out of line.
This is the world in which Jesus of Nazareth travelled. He walked a fine line, between Savior and rebel. This was no democracy, this was Rome at the height of it's power. Taxing the locals to raise the funds for more Roman excesses, keeping the Empire intact. This is what Jesus had to deal with.
Nazareth is of no significance in Jewish history.
There is no record of where or when she died but it probably happened in the town of Nazareth.
Because memory is reconstructive, it is subject to canfabulation--confusing an event that happened to someone else with one that happened to you.
That depends a lot on who you mean with "they".
