Who invented jet engine?

Sir Franklin WhittleSir Frank Whittle was born June 1,1907 in Earlsdon, Coventry, England. His wife's name was Dorothy Lee. They had 2 sons. His nationality was britsh. He had a military career that was from 1923-1948. He was an air commadore for World War 2. Sir Frannk Whittle Died August 9, 1996, he was 89 years old. He died from lung cancer. Sir Frank Whittle worked very hard to finish the invention of the jet engine. In order to work 16 hour days he sniffed benzedrine duroing the day and then took tranquillizers and sleeping pills at night to offset the effects and allow him to sleep. Over this time period he became irretable and developed an "explosive" temper. He suffered from stress related aliments such as eczema and heart palapitations while his weight dropped to nine stone 126 pounds.Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are both recognized as being the co-inventors of the jet engine. Each worked separately and knew nothing of the other's work. Hans von Ohain is considered the designer of the first operational turbojet engine. Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet engine in 1936. However, Hans von Ohain's jet was the first to fly in 1939. Frank Whittle's jet first flew in in 1941.


What happened on Henry Hudson's exploration?

Henry Hudson's crew abandoned him because they were angry because the ship had been frozen in the river duroing the winter and was running low or out of food. They couldn't kill him (a mutiny) because his young son was with them and if they didn't kill him, too, then Hudson's son would tell everyone that they had killed his father. They really didn't want to kill a child- would you? So the crew solved this problem by sending Hudson, his son, and a few loyal sailors off in a little boat. They were never seen again, and the crew was arrested when they returned to Europe
