There is only one reason that explains your question. Microsoft only supports one step upgrade, meaning from XP to Vista. Since Windows 7 is two steps away from XP, using a clean install is your only option.
Windows 98 uses an older technology based on DOS, Windows 2000 is based on the NT Kernel. Sometimes Windows NT OS's don't work right with old dos files. With a clean install, you get a fresh start. With an upgrade, problems with applications or the OS may follow you into the new load.Install off of your Windows 2000 CD and then have Windows search for your Win 98 CD when it checks for valid upgrade path.
clean install formats your hard drive eliminating the virus and doesn't in an upgrade
A clean install that overwrites the existing installation has some advantages; one advantage is that you get a fresh start. If you erase everything (format the hard drive), then you are assured that the registry, as well as all applications, are as clean as possible.
On "large" drives, it is advantageous to use the NTFS file system for performance and reliability. Windows 2000 will offer you the choice to convert your existing FAT32 file system to NTFS. However, there is always a risk of the conversion failing, and you losing valuable data. By backing up the data beforehand and formatting the drive clean instead, you will not risk data. Also, many installed programs will not work right after an upgrade, and will need to be reinstalled anyway.
There is absolutely no reason to update from windows 98 to windows 2000. Windows 98 is a much better operating system. If you want to update to XP then reasons exist to upgrade. With any operating system, programs have been added and deleted. The programs and data can be all over the disk in spite of all attempts to prevent it. The directories can be a mess. Totally cleaning the disk and starting over means the disk will be totally clean. The registers will be clean. The files will be clean. The programs will all be in one piece. The data will all be in one place. The directories will all be clean and accurate. You will start without any viruses.
A "clean install" is one that completely replaces all settings and files of a previous installation, rather than perform an upgrade.
Upgrades infer that you upgrade the physical components of the computer, rather than any of the data inside it's storage devices.
is it compatible to upgrade windows XP 2000service pack3 through downloading upgrade version rather than reformatting or trying to repair services and systems to fix or to reset all programs and settings that really encounter trouble
Windows is not an abbreviation, but rather an reference to the user interface paradigm of "Windows, Icons, Menu, Pointers."or...Will Install Needless Data On Whole System(apologies for editing the answer, delete if necessary...)
No, you shouldn't need a drivers disk besides the Windows 98 disk. It is however always better to do a fresh clean install rather than an upgrade as this just "overlays" your Windows 95 and there have been some problems with the upgrades. If the system asks you for a certain driver, you can alway go to Microsoft and download the needed driver for free.
There are certain tricks to install MAC on PC (or Windows Xp on MAC) but it's rather challange and requires special skills. Thus, the answer is NO, MAC is not compatible with Windows XP.
It is possible to install Windows 8 using a USB flash drive with at least 4 GB of space. The process requires creating a Windows 8 ISO, or buying Windows 8 as an ISO, and adjusting the computer's BIOS to boot up from the USB drive rather than the hard drive.
